Bumper-Mounted Crane
The Bumper-Mounted Crane is a hoist that "rides" in the vehicle's rear bumper and folds out for operation. Fitting to all compact, mid-size, and full-size pickups plus some vans, its installation requires removing the existing bumper. A pistol-grip remote operates the cable lift, which is powered by the vehicle's 12-volt battery. After raising a load, the crane can be turned manually 360 degrees, allowing the operator to place the load where desired. A retractable outrigger extends from beneath the bumper to help stabilize the vehicle. Depending on model, bumper cranes can lift between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds.
