Eastaboga (AL) farmer Jerry Smelley uses a 32-inch length of 2-inch PVC pipe for guidance in hitching his gooseneck trailer onto his pickup. He cut six 3-inch slots into one end of the pipe so it slips over the ball. This lets him see the top of the pipe through his rearview mirror. He simply backs the pickup until the trailer hitch knocks over the pipe, which tells him the hitch is right over the ball and ready to lower.
