Wheelchair Gun Mount
Wheelchair Gun Mount
An adult male in his chair aiming a rifle, with his right hand on the trigger and left hand wrapped around the vertical post that runs from the chair’s frame to the rifle barrel.

Dale Baerg's Wheelchair Gun Mount consists of a 1¼-inch-long, 1-inch-diameter post with 3/8-inch-diameter hole, a pre-threaded CB whip antenna spring, and two threaded 3/8-inchdiameter rods—one 2 inches long and one 12 inches long. To make the mount, the Butterfield, MN, farmer (1) welded the post vertically onto the wheelchair frame, (2) threaded the spring into the top of the 2-inch rod and bottom of the 12-inch rod, then (3) inserted the 2-inch rod portion of the approximately 15-inch-long shaft into the post. Attached to the gun just ahead of the trigger housing is another short 1-inch-diameter post with 3/8-inch diameter hole, into which he slips the top of the mount shaft. To allow some height adjustment for different shooting situations, Baerg's later version of the gun mount includes a small electric actuator with a switch mounted on the motor and two cords. One cord plugs into his power wheelchair, the other into his electric gun. The actuator has about 6 inches of up/down travel.
