Designed to reduce strain on one's back and joints, the EarthLifter Spading Fork utilizes a "rolling fulcrum" for controlled lifting. This not only allows one's posture to be in better alignment with spinal orientation, but also reportedly provides a 4:1 mechanical advantage (i.e., 1 pound of effort to lift 4 pounds). Two wide diamond plate footplates are designed to provide adequate foot support when digging. The tool can be used for harvesting root crops and for removing weeds, grasses, rocks, etc. as well as tilling the soil.
