Towed Multi-Row Garlic Planter
Available in 3-, 4-, and 5-row models, the Towed Multi-Row Garlic Planter is designed to cut open V-shaped furrows, deposit the bulb/seeds, then close the furrows once planted. The four-wheeled implement is pulled behind a small (40-hp or so) tractor, utilizes a mechanical system that involves chains or belts, and can reportedly plant about 1/2 acre per hour. Planting depth, between-row distance, and bulb/seed spacing are all adjustable. One or two persons ride (seated) on the implement to monitor the planting process. Besides garlic, it can also be used to plant onions, broad beans, safflower, and other tubers.
Cost range: $4,500-$6,500, depending on number of planting rows
