Homemade Four-Row Small-Plot Seeder
Steve Adams' Homemade Four-Row Small-Plot Seeder is significantly reducing the time and effort it takes to plant/transplant the fresh flowers that he grows commercially. Adams 'ganged' four manually powered, single-row Earthway seeders by: (1) removing the front and rear axles and replacing them with 4-foot lengths of 3/8-inch all-thread rod; (2) adding PVC spacers to provide a consistent 10-inch space between rows; (3) eliminating one of the four handles then reattaching the other three so each spans two seeders; then (4) connecting the handles with a rod cut to fit. Besides speeding up planting, the device ensures uniform new spacing, which makes mechanical cultivation feasible.
