Using Mulch Materials reduces the need for continual and tiresome weeding while, at the same time, helping to hold in soil moisture. Some of these "materials" include straw or grass clippings spread between the rows and/or plastic or newspaper strips with slits through which the crops are planted. Stone, wood, or plastic mulch or matting can also be used in flowerbeds or in landscaped areas.
