With the Cordless Drill Planting Auger, one can make the holes in which to plant/transplant seedlings, potted plants, bulbs, etc. without having to bend over and/or manually break through hard soil-and can reportedly do so about 10 times faster than the kneel-and-dig method. Suggested auger type is one that's 2, 3, or 4 inches in diameter, 24 to 48 inches long, and fits a 3/8- to 1/2-inch drill. (Both sources below also have drills for purchase.) A planting auger can also be used to aerate compost, mix soil and fertilizer, or make holes for fertilizer spikes and even small trees.

Estimated Cost Cost range: Auger-$30-$150 (depending primarily on size); drill-$250 if purchased

Limitations Limitations Addressed by Product: Back, Lower extremity, Strength/endurance, Upper extremity
